The gift of giving.
"It is more blessed to give than to receive".
"When we give, we get back tenfold".
We hear it everywhere, especially this time of year. The declarations that encourage us to give. Do they really? Or do they make us feel guilty for not giving when we can, or when we could? Are you a giver? Do you give willingly, or because it's the right thing to do? Look deep within yourself. When you give, do
you give anonymously, or do you have the need to put your name on it, to have someone know that you gave? Giving from the heart is not always easy. We tend to be a bit selfish, a bit greedy, or maybe we don't have much ourselves and it's difficult to give. But it is only when you give without condition, that you have truly given. If I give with any condition at all, then I am bartering, or buying, or exchanging, I am not truly giving. Giving is done in may ways, gift of time, gift of self, gift of monetary, gift of life, of lessons. When you give from the heart, you give expecting NOTHING in return. NOTHING. Have you ever really done that?
Not a gift with a tax deduction, or a gift based upon your desires where that gift goes and how it is used. Just a gift, that you let go of, and let it find it's own place. Like a tiny seed, it can grow anywhere, sprout roots and grow beyond your imaginings. It matters not who
the bearer of the seed is. Seeds can grow in fertile soil, and also in the most inopportune places. A true and open heart gives of itself.
I just give. My family says sometimes I give it to the wrong people, but I don't care. I'd rather error on the side of giving too much and to the wrong people, than by not giving at all.
